Keyword Density Analysis Tool

Enter a URL or paste your copy to see the density of every one- to four-word phrase, and whether it appears in your title, description and headings.

How the keyword density checker works

We fetch the page once, then everything else happens in your browser: the visible text is extracted (scripts, styles and hidden elements are ignored), split into words, and counted as one-, two-, three- and four-word phrases. Nothing is stored.

  • Density = occurrences × words in phrase ÷ total words.
  • Densities above 2.5% are highlighted amber, and above 4% red, as a hint to check for over-use.
  • Appears in shows whether the phrase is also used in the title, meta description and headings, where it carries the most weight.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is keyword density?
Keyword density is the share of the words on a page taken up by a phrase: occurrences × words in the phrase ÷ total words. A 2-word phrase used 10 times on a 1,000-word page has a density of 2%.
What is a good keyword density?
There is no magic number. Write naturally for readers. Very high densities (roughly above 3–4% for a single phrase) read as stuffed and can hurt more than help.
Why are common words like "the" missing?
Stop words are hidden by default so meaningful phrases rise to the top. Untick Ignore stop words to include them.
